I can hear the Chicken Dance song already!!! The trucks have moved in and started setting up the fences and the porta potties at 10AM this morning. Parking was a real stinker. Hey, Even Big John is already in town! The La Mesa Oktoberfest! It's in full swing!
Find some official LMVMA* information here. OR get the abridged Web Lackey version here:
Pete's Place will be open until 2AM! Unlike the 42 year old Oktoberfest. The beer gardens and Oktoberfestivities will stop this year at 10PM, new to last year's 11PM end time. Oktoberfest starts at noon, which is later than last year. Speaking of changes to the Oktoberfest, it is ONLY running Friday and Saturday this year... which is cool, I guess, If you have Chargers season tickets... but NO Oktoberfest on Sunday. I repeat, no Oktoberfest on Sunday. In addition to only running two days, this year it only has two beer gardens. All the more reason to come to Pete's for a bier. That's German for "beer." We're learning! ALSO new for this year, the Oktoberfest stretches from the 4th St and La Mesa Blvd intersection, down to only the Spring St and La Mesa Blvd intersection. A whopping 3 (ish) blocks!!! Of course it extends over to the backside of Pete's Place on Allison Ave as usual with ze beer garden, and thus forming The Bavaria Triangle!!... get it?... don't get lost in it!!! They raised the funds, they had to make some changes (don't believe the hype) and it's back on. For now. So there you have it, folks. Changes you need to know about Oktoberfest all wrapped up into one short and concise Pete's Place website/blog post. You're welcome.... Disclaimer below.
Auf Wiedersehen! Ciao! Cheers!
