It's always a bittersweet thing bringing this up. Excited to hear great music, but reminded of a friend's passing. My lowly web lackey words will never do the man justice. But I try.
Bernard "Buddy" Siegal (Stage name "Buddy Blue") left us 6 years ago April 2nd, 2006 at the young young age of 48. Friend to Pete's Place and those who drank there. I had the pleasure of attending a Buddy Blue Reunion Band show at the Belly Up Tavern earlier this year and it was incredibly touching and moving. People danced, sang, and boy did the tears flow. It was all out of love, respect and well... just plain ol' missin' Buddy.
Here we are once again, celebrating the life of a damned talented musician; and a dear friend to the owner's, staff and patron's of Pete's Place by doing it the best way we know how: Making a whole day of it with drinking and live music. Starting 7PM Saturday, April 28th, 2012.
Sounds good, right Buddy? Yep... I though so, too. I'll bring the Maker's. You bring the music.
If you must know, Buddy was a huge fan of the comic book American Splendor by Harvey Pekar. The poster was done as an homage to Harvey Pekar and R.Crumb's work on American Splendor. Buddy actually would have made a great character for those books. Thanks to Tommy G for drawing this up!
